Hi, I’m Sarah Hurst, teaching 9th-grade English to a class in Anchorage, Alaska. We discussed this topic in class and came up with a list of things to write about in the next letter. Here it is:

1. What’s the size of your school? What size are your classes? Do you prefer working in bigger or smaller classes?

2. Do you like your school? What are your favorite classes?

3. Do you take your education seriously? What are your future goals? Do you want to go to college?

4. What do you think about homeschooling?

5. Tell us about your teachers. What do they do if you get something wrong?

6. What do you like and dislike doing in class? Do you ever fall asleep in class?

Hello, Sarah,
I decided to answer your questions.
Well, our school is rather big; there are 3 floors and over 40 classrooms. There are different classes: big, small, special for chemistry, physics, Russian and literature, English and a Conference room. There are 2 persons sitting at a desk. I prefer working in big classes.
I like my school; it's one of the best schools in our city.
My favorite subjects are algebra, geometry, English and geography.
Of course, i take my education seriously. As for goals, i haven't decided who I'm going to be in the future (as for job), but it'll be tied with geography, math and English. I'm going to enter the university.
Now I'm in 9th grade, and I have to pass final exams at the end of this school year, after it i can go to college, but if i enter the university i must study all 11 grades.
Honesty, i don't know a lot about homeschooling it isn't popular in Russia.
All my teachers are very good. If i do something wrong they understand it, they won't jump to conclusions, they'll understand and explain me (if You mean making mistakes).
I like discussing literature poems, solving equations. I dislike writing summaries. I suppose I’ve never fallen asleep but sometimes I'm starved of sleep very much, especially on first lessons that begin at 8.00 a.m.

Dear friends from Alaska, and what about you? I know you are homeschooling, what is it? Could you explain?

Our school is very big and beautiful. It has both small and big classes. There is no difference between them.
Of course i like my school because it gives me all necessary knowledge.
My favourite subjects are English, Literature and Russian.
Yes, i take my education seriously. In future i'd like to be psychologist.I want to apply to university.
Homeschooling is impossible to understand for me.
Our teachers are very responsive. They could explain me something if i don't understand. If i fall the test some of them allow to retake it.
I like writing compositions, expositions and other..I dislike discussion of boring literature poems.
I could never falling asleep in class, but sometimes in seventh lesson i'd like to do it.

Dear foreigners, and what about you??Can you explain your way to get education??

Hello, this is some information about my education.
I do not go to a regular school. I am in a charter school. The Family Partnership Charter School is part of the Anchorage Public School System. It allows any kind of schooling from homeschool with your parents to small classes with teachers. I go to three classes two days a week and do my Algebra and electives at home. My teachers teach two days a week and give me homework for the rest of the week. My school is very small with only 8-10 kids in my classes. We will have a week off from classes over Thanksgiving and all of December off for the Christmas/Winter break. We get a week of Spring break and classes end by the beginning of May. I’ll work on my elective during some of that time.
For school in general, it doesn’t make a difference to me whether I work in a large or small classroom. It probably wouldn’t matter what school I went to; I really don’t like school, but I have to do it anyway. I don’t have any favorite core classes. I like my electives the best like photography and outdoor education. I take my education as seriously as I can. I do want to get good grades. I would like to become an airline pilot. That means I will need a college education plus flight school.
Right now I would prefer to go to a fulltime school instead of doing homeschool and charter school classes. The problem of changing is that public school isn’t always so great and private school is really expensive, so I’m going to the charter school. Homeschooling and charter school classes just doesn’t give me enough variety of friends and activities. The one advantage to the homeschool is that it is probably somewhat easier and more flexible.
All my teachers are a lot smarter than I am so they make good teachers. If I get something wrong they give a bad grade, but sometimes they allow me to correct things for a better grade. This year there hasn’t been anything memorable that I have enjoyed in my classes. In general I like discussions the best. I reading in class is what I dislike the most, because I don’t read well out loud. I don’t fall asleep in class, but sometimes I “zone-out” for awhile with my eyes open. I usually keep up with my assignments and turn them in on time except in my English class.

Hello!
In a home school, our parents give us most of our assignments and grades. We are enrolled in a charter school, called Family Partnership Charter School, and they get teachers that will meet twice a week with about 10-20 kids to teach them a certain subject or subjects. You can also take online classes from home, so you can choose which classes and the teachers you want. I prefer working in bigger classes with 20 kids, because I like being around a lot of people and then I have a smaller chance of getting called on.
I really like my school, but some of my best friends aren’t in all my classes and I wish they were. My absolute favorite classes are Algebra 1, and choir I take as an elective. I have so much fun with my friends and teachers in those classes, and math and singing are awesome.
Taking my education seriously is really important to me; I try to do the best I can! When I get older I would like to either work in culinary arts and be a chef with my own restaurant, or have a master’s degree in music.
Homeschooling is pretty good overall; it is a good education system. I really want to go to one of the regular high schools where I live, because our charter school doesn’t have dances, talent shows, a yearbook, or a musical; which isn’t very cool. I’m really into that kind of stuff, so it’s a bummer for me.
When I get something wrong my Math teacher tries to figure out what I did and usually she will only take a half a point off if I know what I did wrong. My Science teacher, most of the time lets me fix it and she won’t mark it wrong if I get it right again without any help. My English teacher will mark it wrong and show me the right way to do it. Since my mom is my teacher for most of my other subjects, she will go over the problems with me, if I get one wrong we discuss it and she either doesn’t mark me off, if I know the answer, or she’ll take a point off.
Lecturing is probably my least favorite thing to do in class; I’m more of a hands-on person. I love doing activities. I’ve never fallen asleep in class, but I sure come really close!
Marie

My name is Keanna, and I’m taking (9th grade) English, Science, Algebra, and History classes through homeschooling. The size of my school is not very big, there are about 10 students in each of my classes. I think it is easier to work in smaller classes because it is much less distracting, and it is easier to pay attention and learn. My favorite classes are English and History, because I love reading, and learning about different cultures, and places.
I try to take my education as seriously as possible, but it’s not very easy. I would love to spend a summer doing extra classes so I can graduate a year early. I plan on going to college, but I’m not sure yet what I want to study. After going to public school from kindergarten through seventh grade, homeschooling is much easier, and I think it’s helped me be more responsable about schoolwork.
My teachers are all very nice. Because there are so few students in my school, everyone gets more contact with the teachers. My favorite thing about class is when we read new books or storys. My least favorite part of class is when we have tests. I have never fallen asleep in class, but I’m sure it will happen eventually.

Dear Students,

Hello again! Well the size of my school is actually kind of big, kind of small. It is a church and I haven't really explored it so I don't know much about it. The size of my class to me is small and I prefer bigger classes so that we can have room for our jumbo backpacks. To tell you the truth I do like my school because there isn't much kids and thankfully no bullies this year! My favorite class is Math, or what we now call Algebra.

Sometimes I take my education seriously, and sometimes I don't. Like when I think of what I want to do, I really think that I don't need these classes but then I have to remember that in life you need a LOT of education for any kind of work. My future goals are to receive passing grades, complete high school, and become either an actress and or singer, poet, or even take place in construction, but I'm not sure, I'll let God decide and not me. Right now when I think of it, I don't really want to go to college but for great knowledge comes great work. So I might change my mind.

Homeschooling is a great choice. But I also think public school would be best because you could have more experience with the public and it would be good for college. My teachers are pretty good so far. Whenever I get something wrong they just correct me and give me help. I think they explain situations or problems with more detail than public school teachers. Being quiet in school is my hobby. I like getting the boring portions of work in school over with, finishing homework in class, having little chats, and listening carefully. I dislike having to answer questions out loud especially in English but then again when we answer them out loud, it actually helps. I never ever fall asleep in class, I did when I was a little girl though. We get tons of homework, and our classes that we have for two days a week are about five hours each day. That's not that bad, it's actually pretty good.

Sincerely,

Sherry Romer

Hello Lyceum 49,

This is Ashlee McSwain from Anchorage, Alaska. Thankyou so much for replying to our letters. It is very exciting learning about all of you in Kalingrad. Mrs.Romanova told us you get information on American schools from film, that is very interesting! Well, our main subjects included Math, English, Science, and History. We also can take electives which are extra classes that you are able to choose. Our grades are based on participation in class, how well we do on exams, and tests.
Homeschooling is much different from normal schooling. In our program we go to class twice a week and take all the core subjects. In public school they go 5 days a week 7 hours a day. During the holidays, including Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years we get breaks. The breaks normally last about 2 weeks or however long the holiday lasts. Our school year lasts about 8 months depending on the rate your going. How long is school in Kalingrad? How many years is highschool in Russia?

Until next time,

Ashlee McSwain

Hello, my name is Brigitta and this is my second letter to your class. In this letter, I want to share some information about my school. As you all probably know, I am home schooled. Our country allows parents to school their kids if choose. Most homeschooling families do all their studies at home, but my school is very different than most regular home school programs because I take many of classes from a teacher other than my mom. They are called group classes and they vary in size from eight to ten people. I prefer working in bigger groups because I am very social and I enjoy meeting new people.
I like my school because my teachers and fellow students are nice and I like hanging out with my friends. My favorite classes are Math and World History, because I enjoy learning about new things in History and I enjoy having to solve equations in Math.
I take my education very seriously because I want to be a veterinarian (which is a doctor for animals), so, I have to study very hard to do well in school. I will have to go to collage to get my doctorate in medical care for animals.
I really enjoy homeschooling, because I only have to go to school two days a week from 9:30 thru 2:15 and I enjoy having those extra days to have to study on my own and it frees up my time to focus on playing my violin and doing community service (I volunteer quite a bit at my church and neighborhood).
I enjoy going to group classes because all of my teachers are kind and if I do make mistakes, I am shown how to do things correctly and given a chance to improve or do extra credit. I love doing science experiments in class; it makes the subject so much more interesting. One of the things I dislike about my group classes is reading out loud, it’s just not my favorite thing. Sometimes I am tired and may get bored, but I never fall asleep in class!

Hello Forum Mates,

This is Peter Knoch. My School is fairly small and only has about 3 rooms for classes. Each of my classes have about 6 or 7 people in them. I prefer to work in smaller classes because you can work much more effectively. I like my school very much. My favorite classes are English and Algebra 1. I take my education very seriously and I hope to go to college. I hope to become a writer or a computer programmer. I think home schooling is great because it gives you much more freedom than public school does. However it is also hard because you have to keep logs of all your work and classes. I have 3 teachers (1 for each subject). They are all very good teachers and do an awesome job. If I get something wrong my teachers will explain what I did wrong and sometimes let me do extra credit to help the grade. I like to write and take tests. This may be strange because many people hate tests but I love them. I dislike reading long passages of science or some other technical subject. I don’t fall asleep in class but sometimes my mind wanders. When I heard that you learn about American schooling from films I laughed because that is how I learn about other countries school. Her is some general information about our schooling. Our main subjects are Math, English, and Science. Please note that these are very generalized subjects and each grade level takes different forms of these subjects. We don’t really have School uniform here and just where what we choose. Normally formal clothing but some students do wear casual clothing. Well thats all for now, Talk to you later Forum mates.

Sincerely,
Peter

Dear Lyceum 49,

I am home schooled through a charter school, Family Partnership in Anchorage, Alaska.
The size of all of my classes tends to be no more than 10 students. I prefer to be in smaller classes because I enjoy more one on one with my instructors. I love my school and my favorite class is math.
Yes, I do take my education very seriously. I want to go to college and realize that a good education is a must to be able to learn properly. I love the home school program. I can do my homework on my own schedule. I also only go to school 2 days a week instead of the usual 5 days a week in the public schools. I do have a lot of homework though.
I dislike tests and big projects. For some reason, especially on the tests I don’t do as well as I do in every day studies. I need to study harder and take more notes.
I have never fallen asleep in class. My older sister was famous at her high school for falling asleep in her morning classes. My mother wasn’t very happy to hear about her sleeping habits during school! I don’t plan to fall asleep in any of my classes!

Sincerely,

Zoë Ross

Hello again,

This is Joseph from Anchorage Alaska. I am writing to you to tell you about my school. The name of the school I attend is Family Partner Charter School. It is not like most traditional schools here in the United States.
In the United States the names of the grades are kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade, 3rd grade, 4th grade, 5th grade, 6th grade, 7th grade, 8th grade, and then I go to high school. High school takes four years to complete; each year is broken into different sub-groups. The 1st year, you are called “Freshmen.” The second year, you are called “Sophomores.” The 3rd year, you are called “Juniors.” The fourth year, you are called “Seniors.”
Currently, I am a freshman. I attend a school with every grade in it. The amount kids in my school last year totaled 591. My classes range in size but my average class size is about ten students. I like to work in smaller groups more than a big group because it is easier to learn; at least it is for me.
Family Partnership Charter School or FPCS is what I think to be one of the most fantastic schools in all of Anchorage; not only because it is a homeschooling program, but also because they have wonderful teachers. The government gives the schools money for the students, and then the schools give the parents the money to decide on their schooling method. The parent decides either to pay teachers to teach their student, pay for online studies, or pay for books to teach their students themselves. Most of the schools in the United States do not work this way. I am taking classes outside the house. My favorite classes are Mathematics and Science. Something that is different about my school from the rest of the schools in my area is that we meet two times a week for every class.
I take my education very seriously. I devote at least one and a half hours for every class every day. As for my future goals, I plan on getting a career in some kind of environmental studies. I plan on going to college close to home, so I am either going to take classes at University Anchorage Alaska or University Fairbanks Alaska.
My educators are substantially outstanding and thrilling, all except for one. My World History teacher is most defiantly not stimulating. All that we do is sit around and pronounce useless information about the past. After class is accomplished she gives us handouts and we answerer them. Most of my teachers ask me if I understand the concept or the topic when I get things wrong.
I dislike reading in school. Most books that they have us read are slow paced and were written in the past. They are hard to put into context for our everyday lives. I have thought about falling asleep in my World History class, but as I was saying I take my education very serious.
Answered questions… School names are usually decided on the location of the school itself for example, if the school is near Goldenview and is a middle school it would be named Goldenview Elementary. The breaks that we have here are called Summer break, Winter/Christmas break, and Thanksgiving break, the longest is Summer break and it is about 3 months long. The school year goes from September to May.

I have to be going,
Joseph McMahon

Hello again Mrs.Romanova’s class. My class is interested in your educational views so I am going to ask some questions. I would like to ask if you like your school, and is it big? Since I am homeschooled my school isn’t all that big, it’s actually a church. Do you like bigger or smaller classes?

I find smaller classes to help me concentrate better but I do miss my bigger classes. I only have four classes throughout the day, and I would say World History is my favorite class since I have always liked the study of human behavior. What is your favorite class? Do you take your education seriously, and what I mean by that is do you value it as part of your day, or do you not really mind it?

I guess you can say I value my education enough. I do need it to go to college or to accomplish future goals. Do you plan to go to college or have any future goals? It is a good move to make if you do want to go to college.

Even though I am homeschooled I have four teachers, one for each core subject: Science, English, Math, and World History. Tell me a little bit about your teachers like are they nice and are they lenient on grading work? My letter is just about over but I would like to ask about what you like or not like to do in class. I know that if I dislike something I usually get tired except in Science, I am just sleepy in the morning. Are any of you like me and almost fall asleep in class? Well, that is all I wanted to ask.

Hello, this is Nicholas Bracale and I would like to tell you a little bit about schools in Alaska. I would also like to answer some of your questions.
There are about ten kids in each of my classes and I take three classes every Monday, and Wednesday. Language arts, Math, and History. Every Thursday I take a Spanish class at night. I also take a crime science class every Friday. I actually like working in bigger size classes. I honestly do not like my school all that much. I think it is too small. My favorite class would have to be crime science it’s pretty cool. I get to solve crimes, and understand how a forensic crime solver works. I try to take my education seriously but I’m just not all that great in school so it seems harder for me compared to some of my friends. When I’m older I want to be a fireman, or a crime solver/police officer. I am not sure if I will be attending collage or not. Mostly just some classes to become a fireman/officer. I am not quite sure what my teachers do if you get in trouble at my school. At my old school they would give you a detention, which is serving time in a classroom, your not aloud to do anything except schoolwork. It’s usually a 1 hour-1hour1/2 long. Or there is ISS, which stands for in school suspension. It’s basically like a detention but all day. Or theirs OSS which stands for out of school suspension. That’s the worst one you can get. You just have to go home and do school work all day. I don’t usually fall asleep in class. I really dislike sitting in a classroom, not being able to move out of your chair, and listening to the teacher go on and on and on. Some of the school names in my area are Hanshew, Service, Dimond, Wendler, and Lake Otis. And our school year is a couple months shorter than most schools. Nice talking to you.

Hi everybody,
Dear Mrs Sarah Hurst and students from America,
I decided to answer some of your questions too, but I want to give more information than Nastya. So, our school is very big : 3 floors and a lot of classes. Most of them are for 30 pupils. And there are 4 classes for 15 people, where we study English and Informatics. We have a lecture hall, it is designed for 60 pupils. There we watch films, pass exams and have lectures of Biology sometimes.
I dislike my school, because it looks common, for example ,walls are grey. But this year school’s interior is becoming better and better. New curtains, sofas, many plants were bought. Maybe I’ll change my opinion at the end of the school year.
In our lyceum we don’t only study, but also take part in many funny and educational events and performances. There is a student’s council in our lyceum which organizes holidays, promotions, parties. I am a member of the council and write small comments about past events . There are 2 school’s newspapers : «The 49 avenue» and «The AKRIL». In one of them I have my own standing head about hand-crafting. Also every year the cinema festival is held in the lyceum, pupils makes films for it. I hope this year our class will take part in this festival too.
Outdoors there is a recreation ground where we engage in sports activities, and a grove where pupils walk between and after lessons.

I took photos of my school. You can have a look at them here

Hello again!

My school has 3 floors and a lot of classrooms. Many of them are the same, but others are made especially for chemistry, physics, biology, French and so on.
I like my school, it makes me feel comfortable. My favourite classes are English, Geography and History. I want to be a successful lawyer and I do take my education seriously.
I know there is a lot of work, but I think I can handle it.

I don't know very much about homeschooling, but I think it's better to go to school because you learn how to work with others and you meet other people and, maybe, you make a lot of friends and socialise with others.
My teachers are interesting, they immediately capture our attention. When we do something wrong, we are punished depending on what we have done.
I have never fallen asleep in class, although sometimes I was really tired. I like writing an essay, reading and solving exercises, but I don't like paper tests.

All in all, I like school, it is our first job !

Hellow everybody!!!!
You have written very interesting letters about your school. And I knew a lot of new things about your education.
It’s very interesting that you go to class twice a week. We go to our school every day except Sunday. Our school is big and there are about 1700 people there. We have 11 grades in school. The first 4 grades are primary education; 5th, 6th 7th 8th 9th 10th and 11th grades are Secondary Education. Then pupils usually entre the university- it's higher education.
In our school pupils of 8th,9th, 10th and 11th grades attend classes from 8.00 to14.00a.m, the other grades go to school from 14.00 to 19.00p.m.
So we have to get up at 7 o’clock . But I’m a very slowly person so I have to get up at 6:30. It’s very difficult!!!!!!
I arrive at my school, and teachers begin to explain us new themes. During the first lesson my brain doesn’t want to work. But then I try to work hard and get good marks.
We have a lot of classes; Algebra, Geometry, History, Chemistry, Russian language, Literature, English language, Physical education, Biology, Geography, etc. And all teachers give us homework!!!! I like attend classes, listen to the teachers, but I DON’T LIKE to do homework!
But between classes I can communicate with other pupils and make new friends. Also I can go to the canteen and buy something to eat.
I like my school very much. Our teachers are very kind, clever and nice. If I got a bad mark, I can always correct it:I should rewrite this work, to answer right to teacher’s questions or to do extra work.
In our school a lesson usually lasts 40 minutes. And how long does a lesson in your school last?
Until next time,
Natusya.

Hi everybody!
My name is Anna and I'm in 9th grade. It was very interesting for me to know that you go to school only twice a week. We have to do it 6 days a week and every day we have 6 lessons. Sometimes even 7!!! And usually pupils say like that “On the 1st and 2nd lessons want to sleep, on the 3rd want to eat and on the others just to die!” But it's only a joke with a bit of truth
As girls said our school is enormous and there are a lot of students there. And sometimes it's very difficult to go quickly through this crowd. There are 3 floors in our school and loads of classrooms. Except ordinary classrooms for 30 pupils we also have small classes for 15 pupils and conference room for more than 60 pupils.
I have 14 subjects such as Russian language and Literature (usually we have the same teacher), Algebra and Geometry (also the same teacher), English language, Informatics, History and Social Studies and History of the western Russia (history of the Kaliningrad region), Geography, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Physical education. And my favourite are Math and English as I'd like to become a financial auditor abroad maybe in America or Britain.
I don't complain about my teachers because our class has very strong and intelligent teachers. So I think you'll pass our final exams in 9th and 11th grades very well especially Russian and English languages. Everyone in Russia has to pass Russian language and Math exams and 2 others optional. I'll tale English language and Social Studies.
I love my class because I've known my classmates for 9 years and they've my 2nd family.
All in all, I like my school because it's my 2nd home and especially because of our canteen. We have the most delicious sausage-in-the-dough and mini pizza in the city!!!

Hello everebody!
It was very interesting and fascinating to read all your letters!! And now some information about our school=)
As previous pupils said our school is large. It`s one of the biggest schools in our city! Usually our classes include 25-29 pupils and there are several grades of one year pupils (for example there are seven 9th classes) All classes have a name which consists of a number and a letter (9a 9b and others). First 4 classes are the primary school and in our school pupils of 1,2,3,4 classes study in a separate building (it is situated opposite the main building) Usually schools have one building, but as I said our school is very large.

My favourite subjects are Math, Informatics and English. But I dislike History and Literature, because they are so boring for me!! I don`t like humanities, I prefer exact sciences like Math and Physics
I take my education seriously, because I think it`s an important part of our life, but I think History and Physical Education are usless subjects, so I don`t do homework of history classes or I don`t work hard at Physical Education)) In future I`m going to apply for the university after finishing the school. I don`t know which job I would choose, but may be I`d like to be a programmer=))
I practically don`t know anything about homeschooling, because it isn`t popular in Russia. But I think that studying in ordinary school develop your social and teamwork skills, which are very useful in life Also you can make a lot of good friends during your studying at school
I think that all our teachers are qualified and intelligent. If we do something wrong, they correct our mistakes, but if they have a bad mood they can get you some bad marks ;) At the lessons I like to do a lot of different activities. At Math I like doing some tests . At English I like acting out dialogues and watching English films=) And I dislike writing essays or expositions in Russian language or for Literature classes.
I have never fallen asleep in the class, but I often want to do it! I usually sleep only 7 or 7 and half hours at night, so it`s very difficult not to fall asleep at History, Russian, Literature and some other boring subjects=))

Until next time,
Olya.

Wow you have a lot of classes! In our school we only have 4 Classes. (English, Algebra 1, World History and Integrated Science) And to answer your question of how long our classes are, they are normally 60 minutes long.

Hi!
My name is Liz and I study in the 49 Lyceum too. You know, many of my schoolmates have overtaken me in telling about our school. But let me do it too. It can be common sometimes, but anyway we study in the same school.
Our school is the greatest one in our city IMHO
There are two buildings of it for primary students and for secondary and high school students. So it’s very comfortable. There are a big variety of kinds of classes. Usually small ones are used for foreign languages (apart English our students study German, French etc), in average classes students have subjects like math, history and so on and so forth and in big classes we can listen to lectures. In my opinion studying in small classes is more effective than in big ones because you can hear each word that teacher says. But in big classes we can meet lots of acquaintances. So I don’t think that some definite classes are the best.
My favourite lessons are Russian and English languages and Social Studies. At the end of this year (I’m in ninth grade) I’ll take English and Social Studies or Geography (in fact, I’ve not decided yet) and, of course, Russian language and math.
I treat my school education seriously as my future depends on my school grades. You should have good grades to be got into a university. I haven’t chosen my future job yet, but I want it to be related with English language.
Well, homeschooling isn’t for me because I like meeting people, communicate with them. But if I had an opportunity to be home schooled for some days I wouldn’t refuse. In fact, I fed up getting up very early in the morning and breaking through the crowds of students at school.
Our teachers are really smart. They can make studying be interesting.
I don’t like taking exams and writing tests because I’m nervous all the time when I have to do it.
At the first lesson we always want to sleep, but we should overcome this attraction. And it’s very hilarious when somebody is sleeps in class.

Hello everybody!
I'm Anastasiya I want to tell about our holidays)
First we have a summer holiday like in any normal school During the summer students spend a lot of time outdoors. Someone goes to another country and someone spends his holidays on the beaches and in the parks.
Second we have autumn holiday. From the 1st till the 7th of November. During this week we can do what we want: go to the cinema with friends, walk in the parks or may stay at home and enjoy your freedom!
Third we have winter holiday.
From the 30th of December till the 12th of January. The 1st of January is a national feast New Year. Everyone in Russia sits with their family at the holiday table and under the beats of bells greet the advent of the year.
And we have spring holiday from the 21st till the 29th of March.
Of course every Sunday is a holiday too.

Glad to meet you again.)
I think it isn't necessery to answer the same questions, so I'll wire for sound my opinion about school's education.
Well, I'm not a patriot of my school. Yes, it's fun to meet with friends at school, to talk with them on breakes, to write notes on lessons, to listen to the music (dear teachers, sorry ) and other many fascinating things but with each year it becomes more irritating. We have many homework, almost every day we have tests. We try to prepare for our first exams. We became more nervous and school atmosphere around us starts to lie heavy. Because when you want to stay alone and concentrate you can't!!! Therewith many don't have a good sleep.
That's why I like homeschooling. I think it's more comfortable. Of course, you can say that home atmosphere doesn't predispose to studying but it's not my occurrence - I can adapt on working tune even if I'm at home.

Hi everybody!
It was very interesting and fascinating to know about homeschooling! Thank you for your letters.
I think 49 Lyceum is rather big. I prefer working in big classes, I think it is more comfortable and funny!
My favourite subjects are Math, English language and Geography. I can't say that I don't like some of the lessons. After school I'm going to apply for the university.
When pupils do some wrong our teachers correct mistakes, offer retake tests. Sometimes if you forget your homework, you can bring iе tommorrow. But when you're forgetting is not the first time, teacher can get a bad mark...
I like watching the films and listening songs, dialogs on English lessons. Also I like doing short tests at Math. Sometimes I dislike doing homework because I'm so lazy.
I never fall asleep in class, but when I come home I go to the bed and sleep.
I like to study in our school. It's all for now.
Anya
